About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity for foreign-trained pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role is designed to help you build the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue full pharmacist licensure in the United States.
What you'll do#
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, and labeling.
- Maintain inventory levels by following established policies and procedures.
- Provide patient counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Adhere to HIPAA standards and all federal and state pharmacy laws.
- Assist customers with questions and perform register transactions.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Successful completion of both FPGEE and TOEFL examinations.
- Commitment to complete all required US internship hours within 18 months.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
