About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Trinity Health, you will provide technical and professional pharmacy services to inpatients and outpatients. You will work in a clinical environment where accuracy is essential to patient safety. This role involves responding to both routine and emergency requests, requiring independent judgment and technical knowledge.
What you'll do#
- Dispense prescriptions and counsel patients on the correct use of their medications.
- Review medication orders for clarity, dosage, and appropriate usage, consulting with physicians when necessary.
- Compound special topical and internal dosage forms not available from manufacturers.
- Check unit dose cart fills for accuracy.
- Participate in Drug Use Evaluation and Adverse Drug Reaction programs.
- Assist with clinical research and departmental projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in at least the first professional year of an accredited Pharmacy program.
- A current Pharmacy Intern license in the State of Michigan.
- Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
- Basic typing and computer skills for order entry and report generation.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods or walk long distances during your shift.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure safety in medication processing.
