About the role#
This position offers pharmacy students the opportunity to gain practical experience while completing their degree. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist with the selection, storage, preparation, and distribution of medications. This role is a paid, on-site, PRN position.
What you'll do#
- Answer the telephone and process Epic messages accurately.
- Assist pharmacists with dispensing medications and filling labels.
- Restock Pyxis med stations and ancillary departments.
- Deliver medication information and products to patient units.
- Manage departmental accounting for patient billable and floor stock supplies.
- Assist in the production of sterile preparations and process returned IVs.
- Participate in the Process Improvement Program and follow all infection control and safety policies.
- Manage inventory by placing orders and performing monthly cycle counts in Talyst.
- Check expiration dates and rotate stock in assigned areas.
- Attend departmental meetings and educational sessions to support your career development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Valid registration as an Intern with the state Board of Pharmacy.
- Proficiency in typing and computer keyboarding.
- A degree in a related field such as Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics is preferred.
- Experience with MS Office, the metric system, and pharmacy calculations is helpful.
- Prior experience with IV admixtures or as a hospital pharmacy technician is preferred.
