About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves supporting pharmacy operations, assisting with prescription fulfillment, and engaging directly with patients to provide care.
What you'll do#
- Apply pharmacy school coursework to daily practice while gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment, including production, pick-up, drop-off, and drive-thru workflows.
- Offer counseling to patients, field medical questions, and take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory through tasks like cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members while following all company standard operating procedures.
- Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and ethical principles to ensure patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or active progress toward, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Prior experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
