About the role#
As an Operations Manager for Via Student Transit, you will manage daily operations to keep student transportation running reliably. This is an on-site, boots-on-the-ground role where you lead service delivery, handle real-time challenges, and improve the experience for students, school districts, and drivers. You will be expected to be onsite 4-5 days per week.
What you'll do#
- Manage daily onsite operations to ensure service is safe and reliable.
- Make real-time decisions regarding driver supply, student needs, and unexpected issues.
- Support and guide drivers to ensure they deliver quality service to students and families.
- Translate feedback from students and school districts into operational improvements.
- Serve as the primary contact between school partners, drivers, and Via central teams.
What you'll need#
- Experience in operations, people management, logistics, or customer service.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with drivers and partners.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a preference for field-based work.
- Capacity for both tactical, real-time decision-making and long-term strategic planning.
- Academic background in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or Communications.
Location & details#
- Locations: Sacramento, San Jose, or Santa Rosa, California.
- This is a full-time, on-site position.
- The role is paid with a salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 per year.
- Hiring is on a rolling basis.
