About the role#
As a Field Operations Manager for Via Student Transit, you will manage daily operations to ensure safe and reliable transportation for students. This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground role where you will address real-time challenges and support the daily needs of drivers and school partners. You will work to improve service quality and efficiency in one of our core business lines.
What you'll do#
- Manage daily onsite operations to ensure transportation is safe, accessible, and reliable.
- Make real-time decisions regarding driver supply, compliance, and student requirements.
- Build strong relationships with drivers to address concerns and ensure they are supported.
- Collaborate with internal teams to turn feedback into operational improvements.
- Use data and technology to diagnose performance issues and improve service efficiency.
- Serve as the primary contact between school partners, drivers, and our internal teams.
What you'll need#
- Experience in operations, people management, logistics, customer service, or process-oriented work.
- Ability to build trust and maintain clear communication with drivers and school partners.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to solving problems in the field.
- Skill in managing immediate issues while developing long-term solutions to prevent recurring problems.
- Majors in Operations Management, Logistics, or Business Administration are preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- The role is based on-site in Seattle, Tacoma, or Federal Way, Washington.
- Expectation is to be on-site 4 to 5 days per week.
