About the role#
As a Field Operations Manager for Via Student Transit, you will serve as the primary onsite lead for student transportation services. This is a high-ownership, boots-on-the-ground position that requires you to be onsite 4-5 days per week. You will ensure that transit services remain reliable, safe, and accessible for the communities that depend on them.
What you'll do#
- Manage daily onsite operations to ensure smooth, safe, and reliable transportation.
- Make informed, real-time decisions regarding driver supply, compliance, and unexpected service challenges.
- Guide and support drivers by building strong relationships and addressing their concerns.
- Collect feedback from students and districts to implement tangible operational improvements.
- Use data and technology to diagnose service issues and enhance overall efficiency.
- Act as a bridge between school partners, drivers, and internal teams to support market growth.
What you'll need#
- Experience in operations, people management, logistics, or customer service.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving in the field.
- Strong relationship-building skills to earn trust from drivers, school partners, and teammates.
- Ability to balance tactical, real-time problem-solving with long-term strategic thinking.
- Educational background in Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or Public Health.

- Locations: Sacramento, CA; San Jose, CA; or Santa Rosa, CA.
- Work Modality: On-site (4-5 days per week).
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 per year, plus benefits.
