About the role#
This one-year rotating internship provides intensive experience in the management of small animal clinical cases. The program focuses on clinical training under the supervision of staff doctors at VCA California Veterinary Specialists and includes approved out rotations.
What you'll do#
- Provide clinical care as a veterinarian by examining patients, ordering diagnostic tests, establishing diagnoses, and prescribing treatments.
- Communicate effectively with clients and referring veterinarians regarding patient care.
- Participate in the clinical and tutorial instruction of extern students, including daily student rounds.
- Attend all required hospital rounds, seminars, and journal club sessions.
- Provide clinical care as part of an emergency duty schedule, which includes evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
What you'll need#
- A DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary college.
- Strong clinical skills and foundational knowledge of veterinary medicine.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
- A willingness to participate in a rotating emergency duty schedule.
