About the role#
This is a 12 1/2 month rotating internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists. You will spend about 60% of your time on emergency or inpatient shifts. The program emphasizes emergency medicine and critical care while providing exposure to various specialty fields. You will work as a primary doctor from your first day.
What you'll do#
- Manage emergency cases and inpatient care.
- Work alongside specialists in surgery and internal medicine.
- Participate in elective rotations in areas like radiology, oncology, neurology, cardiology, and ophthalmology.
- Lead client communications and maintain medical records.
- Teach technicians and visiting student externs.
- Attend weekly didactic rounds led by specialists.
What you'll need#
- Eligibility for a veterinary license in the United States.
- Graduates of non-AVMA approved schools must complete the ECFVG process or equivalent before applying.
- A CV including GPA and class rank.
- 3 letters of recommendation from clinical faculty.
- A letter of intent detailing your goals.
Location & details#
- Location: East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
- Schedule: 5 days per week with 2 guaranteed days off.
- Benefits: 2 weeks of vacation time.
- Note: Interns are required to work two major holidays and most minor holidays.
