About the role#
Unum is seeking a Sales & Client Management Intern for a 10-week paid program during the Summer of 2027. You will work in a professional office setting within the disability-based employee benefits marketplace. This full-time role offers a look into the career of a Unum Producer through independent and collaborative project work. You will be paired with mentors and sponsors to guide your development throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Explore the full lifecycle of a Unum case, including prospecting, quoting, selling, enrollment, onboarding, and relationship management.
- Attend skill development workshops and weekly information sessions.
- Participate in targeted job shadows with sales and client management colleagues.
- Receive support for resume writing and interview preparation.
- Network with your intern cohort and learn about various departmental and corporate functions.
- Complete a Capstone Presentation where you analyze an assigned business case for key leaders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college degree program, with preference for rising seniors or first-year graduate students.
- A competitive GPA.
- A genuine interest in sales and client management and a desire to learn about the insurance industry.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own project work.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Leadership experience and involvement in extra-curricular activities.
- Majors in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Communications, or Psychology.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Chicago, Illinois.
- The role is on-site and requires approximately 40 hours per week during regular business hours.
