Unum Scholar Intern - Chattanooga, TN

About the role#

The Unum Scholar Intern program is a year-round, paid internship based in Chattanooga, TN. This role provides real-world experience in a professional office setting, focusing on operations, strategy, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Interns gain exposure to various corporate functions, network with business leaders, and have the opportunity to earn college credit.

What you'll do#

• Provide high-quality transactional support to business areas with a focus on productivity, accuracy, and customer service.
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships across various departments.
• Work as a team player by backing up peers, addressing conflict constructively, and engaging in feedback.
• Adhere strictly to all privacy guidelines.
• Handle other duties as assigned or as opportunities arise.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited 4-year college degree program or an MBA program (completion of 2 years of coursework preferred).
• A minimum GPA of 3.0, either in your major or overall.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong customer service focus and the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated openness to mastering new tasks and processes.
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
• Solid oral and written communication skills.

Location & details#

• Location: Chattanooga, TN.
• Modality: Hybrid.
• Commitment: Minimum 9-month commitment required.
• Schedule: Must be available to work at least 15 hours per week during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 am – 5 pm). Hours may increase up to 40 hours per week during school breaks based on business needs.
