About the role#
The Unum Scholar Intern program is a year-round, paid position based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role focuses on general business functions such as operations, strategy, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Interns gain professional experience in the insurance and employee benefits industry while working in an office environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide high-quality transactional support to business areas with a focus on productivity, accuracy, and customer service.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships across various departments.
- Work as a team player by supporting peers, addressing conflict constructively, and engaging in feedback.
- Adhere strictly to all privacy guidelines.
- Manage assigned tasks independently and prioritize work within a deadline-driven environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college degree program or an MBA program, with a preferred completion of two years of coursework.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 in your major or overall.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated openness to mastering new tasks and processes, along with solid critical thinking and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Location & details#
- Location: Chattanooga, TN (On-site).
- Schedule: Minimum 15 hours per week during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm). Availability may increase to 40 hours per week during school breaks.
- Commitment: Minimum 9-month commitment required.
- Requirements: Completion of a satisfactory background check.
