Unum Scholar Intern - Columbia, SC

About the role#

This is a year-round, paid internship designed to provide real-world experience within the insurance industry. Interns support various business functions such as operations, strategy, project management, and stakeholder engagement. This role requires a minimum nine-month commitment.

What you'll do#

• Provide high-quality transactional support to business areas with a focus on productivity, accuracy, and customer service.
• Develop effective partnerships and collaborate across various departments.
• Operate as a team player by backing up peers, addressing conflict constructively, and engaging in feedback.
• Adhere strictly to privacy guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited four-year college degree program or an MBA program, with a preferred completion of at least two years of coursework.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 in your major or overall.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven, high-production environment.
• Openness to coaching, ongoing feedback, and career development.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.

Location & details#

• Location: Columbia, South Carolina.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Must be available for at least 15 hours per week during regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm). Hours may increase up to 40 per week during school breaks based on business needs.
• Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time (Year-round).
