About the role#
The Event Planning Student Assistant supports the Student Affairs Event Management unit at the University of Virginia. This position focuses on daily office operations and providing service to students, faculty, and staff. You will work directly with the professional Event Management team to manage event reservations and office tasks.
What you'll do#
- Provide front-line reception and customer service by answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting visitors.
- Process event reservations using 25Live for academic and Student Affairs spaces.
- Assist with the development and implementation of office policies.
- Communicate with Contracted Independent Organizations.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team discussions.
- Handle routine inquiries regarding events, systems, and office services.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current UVA student and eligible for Federal Work-Study.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to partner with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- A professional approach and the ability to work independently.
- Academic background in Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology is preferred.

- Term: Fall 2026 (August 25, 2026 to May 7, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $13 per hour.
