About the role#
The Software Engineering Intern will work under the direction of Accenture Federal Services technical leadership to support specialized programs at the University of South Florida Institute of Applied Engineering. This role focuses on data science and program management initiatives that support Department of Defense efforts. You will contribute to research, analysis, and the development of tools designed to enhance operational decision-making and resource allocation. Upon hire, you will be considered both a USF IAE temporary employee and an AFS student intern.
What you'll do#
- Design, prototype, and test cybersecurity-focused software systems.
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain applications and infrastructure inside the AWS Cloud.
- Collaborate with AFS engineers to develop tools that increase operational efficiency and software readiness.
- Document processes, technical findings, and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to program management tasks, including tracking workflow progress, preparing briefings, and organizing project artifacts.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship is required due to funding requirements and potential access to Controlled Unclassified Information.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
- Junior or Senior standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Experience with Java, Python, and Javascript programming languages is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, planning, and organizational skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: 15 to 20 hours per week during the semester.
- Compensation: $17.62 per hour.
