IAE Software Engineering Intern - Fall 2026

About the role#

The Software Engineering Intern will work under the direction of Accenture Federal Services technical leadership to support specialized programs at the Institute of Applied Engineering. This role involves contributing to research, analysis, and the development of tools that enhance operational decision-making and resource allocation for Department of Defense initiatives. Upon hire, you will be considered both a University of South Florida IAE Temporary Employee and an AFS student intern.

What you'll do#

• Design, prototype, and test cybersecurity-focused software systems.
• Build, deploy, and maintain applications and infrastructure within the AWS Cloud.
• Collaborate with AFS engineers to develop tools that increase operational efficiency and software readiness.
• Document technical findings, processes, and standard operating procedures.
• Assist with program management tasks, including tracking workflow progress, preparing briefings, and organizing project artifacts.

What you'll need#

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to Department of Defense funding and potential access to Controlled Unclassified Information.
• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Junior or Senior academic standing.
• A minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Preferred experience with Java, Python, and Javascript.
• Strong troubleshooting, planning, and organizational skills.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

• Location: Tampa, Florida.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Modality: On-site.
• Pay: $17.62 per hour.
• Hours: 15–20 hours per week during the semester, between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
