IAE Graphics Design Internship - Fall 2026

About the role#

The IAE Graphics Design Internship for Fall 2026 offers students the opportunity to support SOFWERX, a venue focused on collaboration and innovation for U.S. Special Operations Command. Interns will work on-site in Tampa, Florida, gaining professional experience by applying design skills to real-world projects and events. This is a paid position administered by the USF Institute of Applied Engineering.

What you'll do#

• Create visually engaging graphics to support SOFWERX events, experiments, demonstrations, and outreach activities.
• Design digital and print assets for internal and external communication channels, including social media, presentations, and promotional materials.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop visual concepts that translate technical ideas into clear designs.
• Prepare graphics for multiple formats and platforms while ensuring visual consistency.
• Support basic motion graphics and visual elements such as simple reels or recaps.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews to iterate on creative work.
• Conduct weekly market research and submit entries regarding new technologies or organizations that could contribute to innovative solutions.

What you'll need#

• U.S. citizenship is required due to access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
• Must be an actively enrolled undergraduate student at an accredited local university.
• Junior or Senior standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Demonstrated experience in graphic design, visual communication, or digital media.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• A solid understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
• Strong storytelling, communication, and organizational skills.

• Compensation: $17.00/hour.
• Time Commitment: 15 to 20 hours per week during the Fall semester.
