About the role#
The IAE Graphics Design Internship for Fall 2026 offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience while supporting SOFWERX, a venue dedicated to collaborative innovation for the United States Special Operations Command. This position is administered by the USF Institute of Applied Engineering. Interns will work on-site in Tampa, Florida, contributing to visual projects that support events, outreach, and technical communication.
What you'll do#
- Create visually engaging graphics to support SOFWERX events, experiments, and outreach activities.
- Design digital and print assets for internal and external communication channels, including social media, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop visual concepts that translate technical ideas into clear, compelling designs.
- Prepare graphics for multiple formats and platforms while ensuring visual consistency.
- Support the creation of basic motion graphics and visual elements as needed.
- Participate in weekly market research to identify new technologies and capabilities relevant to warfighter solutions.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship is required due to access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Active enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program at an accredited local university.
- A current GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Demonstrated experience in graphic design, visual communication, or digital media.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- A solid understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
- Strong storytelling, communication, and organizational skills.
