About the role#
Parking & Transportation Services is hiring students to serve as Transit Bus Drivers. This position provides transportation for students, faculty, staff, and visitors across campus. You will gain professional driving experience while helping the university community. The pay is $15.00 per hour, with a salary increase after you finish training. We provide paid CDL training and testing.
What you'll do#
- Safely operate transit buses on assigned routes and schedules.
- Provide customer service and assist passengers, including those with disabilities.
- Complete vehicle inspections before and after your shifts.
- Keep accurate records of ridership and operations.
- Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors, and other drivers using radio or mobile data systems.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and departmental policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a USF student with a graduation date of May 2027 or later.
- A Florida Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
- At least 1 year of driving experience in the United States.
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with passenger and air brake endorsement, or the eligibility to obtain one.
- A CDL permit is required before training begins.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and work a flexible schedule.
