About the role#
The Advanced Visualization Center (AVC) at the University of South Florida is hiring a student developer to join our team. We prioritize a generalized approach to development, valuing your ability to learn and experiment over deep experience in specific frameworks. This role focuses on rapidly building prototypes for faculty, students, and staff to help them explore new technologies. We are specifically looking for applicants who are sophomores or younger.
What you'll do#
- Create a wide variety of applications and perform general technical tasks related to advanced technologies.
- Research and test new technologies to determine how they meet project needs.
- Develop functional prototypes for faculty, students, and staff.
- Set up and manage multiple VR headsets.
- Communicate development processes and project requirements effectively.
What you'll need#
- Basic programming knowledge and aptitude.
- Ability to work independently to research and learn new technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and produce working prototypes on short timeframes.
- Experience with version control, such as Git.
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite, including Photoshop and Premiere.
- Skills in graphic design, 3D modeling, or animation.
- Experience finding or training custom AI models.
Location & details#
- Location: AVC XR Lab (SCA 222), Tampa, Florida.
- Hours: Up to 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule to accommodate classes.
- Compensation: $15.09 per hour.
- Employment type: Part-time, temporary student position.
