    About the role#

    University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring two student assistants for the Management Information Systems Help Desk. You will work under the supervision of the Help Desk Manager to perform routine support tasks. This role focuses on client technologies, business technology management, and software engineering. You will learn to follow established procedures to maintain systems and support users.

    What you'll do#

    • Install and repair hardware or peripheral equipment.
    • Deploy desktop images and configure software programs.
    • Manage client technology asset inventories and handle end-of-life asset management.
    • Perform user account management and resolve client incidents.
    • Receive IT assets, validate them against invoices, and complete stock reports.
    • Troubleshoot system, database, and operational issues by analyzing logs, monitors, and user input.
    • Conduct root cause analysis to restore normal operations.
    • Perform data entry, import, and export activities.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a college student in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems.
    • Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four-semester units or six quarter units.
    • Experience building or supporting PCs and related hardware and software.
    • Customer service experience in a technical, service, or manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to sit for extended periods and use standard office equipment.
    • Helpful additions include help desk or call center experience and technical certifications like COMPTIA, SANS, or ISC2.

    Location & details#

    • This is an on-site position located in Sacramento, California.
    • Work hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
    • Students generally work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
    • Employment is part-time, temporary, and non-benefited.
    • You must reside in California and perform all work within the state.
