About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring an IT Student Assistant to support the Unclaimed Property Division (UPD). This role provides hands-on experience with daily technology operations, including hardware and software support, troubleshooting, and user assistance. You will work directly with the division to maintain and improve their technical infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Provide Tier 1 support to triage, resolve, or escalate technical tickets.
- Assist UPD users with software, hardware, and network issues.
- Manage and update the UPD Asset Inventory.
- Coordinate PC hardware, operating system, and software updates.
- Respond to service requests using tools like HP-Service Manager, Remedy Smart IT, Microsoft Outlook, and Teams.
- Help design new system architecture, standards, and methods.
- Create and maintain policies to secure and support UPD assets.
- Assess business processes to ensure new technologies meet division needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related IT program.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units.
- Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four-semester units or six quarter units.
- Strong analytical skills to identify problems, reason logically, and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with project stakeholders, administrators, and engineers.
- Knowledge of IT systems, equipment, software, and technical report writing.
- Ability to independently secure resources to complete assignments.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment type: Part-time, non-benefited student position.
- Residency: You must live and work in California throughout your employment.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. You may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
