About the role#
The Student Radiology Technologist supports the delivery of diagnostic imaging services at UC Medical Center. You will work under the direct supervision of licensed Radiologic Technologists and Radiologists to build technical competence and clinical skills. This position is a PRN, first-shift role designed to provide hands-on experience while following established safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do#
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by verifying identity, explaining the process, and ensuring comfort.
- Practice radiation safety principles, including proper shielding and dose reduction protocols.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies.
- Respond to patient needs, emergencies, and changes in condition by notifying supervising staff.
- Assist with clerical and operational tasks within the imaging department.
- Coordinate with nursing units for patient transport and support departmental workflow.
- Use EPIC and PACS systems to research patient exams and complete study-related functions.
- Participate in clinical education activities and quality improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Radiology Technology program certified by the JCERT, or graduation from such a program while awaiting licensure.
- Ability to achieve CPR certification within 8 weeks of employment.
