PRN Pharmacy Intern, Shift Varies, Inpatient Pharmacy

About the role#

UC Health is seeking a PRN Pharmacy Intern for the Inpatient Pharmacy Department at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. This position offers a learning environment that incorporates both operational and clinical opportunities, with no on-call requirements. The role supports pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists, and pharmacy leadership in delivering comprehensive pharmacy services.

What you'll do#

• Provide support for the Drug Policy Development (DPD) Committee and subcommittees regarding the health system's formulary.
• Conduct medication use evaluations per DPD and subcommittee requests.
• Develop New Drug Memos to educate staff on new formulary additions.
• Assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by the organization.
• Support drug information and education initiatives, including developing responses to requests and providing notices regarding drug alternatives.
• Perform tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist, such as medication history, patient counseling, drug dosing, preparation, and distribution.
• Maintain records of DPD actions, update clinical guidelines, and tabulate formulary changes related to cost savings.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current pharmacy intern registration recognized by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
• 0-6 months of equivalent experience.
• Ability to perform work accurately with high attention to detail within specified timeframes.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with health-system staff.
• Capability to set priorities, solve problems, and adapt to changes in workload or schedule.

• Location: UC Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio.
• Hours: PRN, shifts vary.
• Compensation: $19.00 - $24.01 per hour, depending on experience and skills.
