About the role#
The Pharmacy Intern position at the UC Health Specialty Pharmacy provides support to pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists, and pharmacy leadership. This role offers an integrated learning environment that combines clinical and operational opportunities, including participation in interdisciplinary patient care rounds, medication history collection, and drug information support. This is a part-time, first-shift position requiring 20 hours per week with no on-call requirements.
What you'll do#
- Provide support to the Drug Policy Development (DPD) Committee and subcommittees regarding the health system formulary.
- Maintain and update records of DPD and subcommittee actions on a monthly basis.
- Develop educational materials, including New Drug Memos and responses to drug information requests.
- Assist in medication counseling, patient education, and meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of patients.
- Conduct medication use evaluations and support formulary and operational quality improvement initiatives.
- Update and format approved guidelines and therapeutic interchanges.
- Participate in orientation, education, and training programs to maintain professional competence.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Current pharmacy intern registration recognized by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
- 0-6 months of equivalent experience (1-2 years preferred).
- Ability to work accurately with attention to detail, manage frequent interruptions, and adapt to changing workloads.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Compensation: $19.00/hr - $24.01/hr, depending on experience and skills.
