About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern/Co-Op for the Winter 2027 term in Boston. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position. You will support safety and loss control efforts on construction projects or within the office under the direction of a supervisor.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. program and other project safety initiatives.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, specifically focusing on hazards to life or property.
- Conduct jobsite and work area inspections and help develop inspection summaries.
- Maintain safety records, including OSHA 300 logs, incident investigations, training records, and chemical inventory sheets.
- Coordinate and conduct worker orientation programs for new employees.
- Assist with safety committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Support the administration of drug screening programs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
- Ability to assist with the implementation of project safety programs.
- Skill in identifying and reporting safety violations.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and the maintenance of safety records.
- Ability to coordinate safety meetings and worker orientations.
