About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the commercial mortgage portfolio team at TruStage. You will work with a $5 billion portfolio of loans secured by retail, industrial, apartment, and office buildings. The role is designed to help you develop professional skills through mentorship and direct involvement in investment management processes.
What you'll do#
- Review financial statements, rent rolls, and property inspection reports for loans in the portfolio.
- Analyze market data such as vacancy rates, rental rates, comparable sales, and cap rates.
- Prepare property valuations using Argus software and direct capitalization proforma analysis.
- Provide watchlist recommendations and follow-up actions to the Servicing Manager, Loan Officers, and Portfolio Manager.
- Job shadow the origination process and underwrite new loan opportunities.
- Assist with reporting, closing, and servicing tasks, along with ad hoc projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a degree in Finance or Real Estate, or possess equivalent work experience.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027, through August 6, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and year in school.
