About the role#
The Portfolio Management Department supports the Transamerica General Account portfolio. As a Portfolio Analyst Intern, you will work with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Strategists to provide analytical, organizational, and reporting support for fixed income portfolios. This is a paid, full-time internship opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Assist Portfolio Analysts, Tactical Portfolio Managers, and Portfolio Strategists.
- Prepare portfolio management reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Produce a monthly client reporting package for all company divisions.
- Build skills in investment software including Aladdin and Bloomberg.
- Deepen your knowledge of the investment industry and economy through projects and meetings.
- Contribute to various special projects.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a college or university pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Students must not have completed their undergraduate degree or be graduating before the internship concludes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and dependable nature.
- Preferred skills include advanced Excel (Power Query, VBA), exposure to PowerBI, and a basic understanding of investments, economics, and fixed income.
Location & details#
- Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- Modality: Hybrid. You will work in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with Monday and Friday as remote days.
- Term: June 2027 through December 2027, with a possibility of extension through May 2028.
- Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week during the school year and 30 to 40 hours per week during the summer.
