About the role#
The Show Systems team at Walt Disney Imagineering develops Audio-Animatronic figures, show action equipment, and special effects for theme park attractions. This internship focuses on the mechanical engineering tasks required to bring creative concepts into physical reality. You will support the engineering process from initial design through production, testing, and final installation. This role is a full-time, paid position based in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, running from January 2027 to June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design mechanical components under the direction of senior engineers.
- Create 3D models and technical drawings using Solidworks.
- Perform engineering calculations for machine designs, including stress analysis, load development, and component sizing.
- Generate formal engineering reports and documentation.
- Support the testing, commissioning, and production of animated figures and show action equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher in an ABET-accredited program for Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Practical experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling tools.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform basic engineering analysis and calculations.
- Availability to work various shifts as required by project needs.
