About the role#
The ABC News Digital group manages the creation, distribution, and optimization of content across all platforms. As an SEO intern, you will assist in executing daily and long-term search strategies for ABC News brands. You will work across multiple teams to optimize digital and video content for discoverability, including on YouTube. This is a full-time, six-month commitment based in New York.
What you'll do#
- Support search strategy by optimizing videos, live streams, and digital articles for search engines and LLMs.
- Monitor real-time trends using tools like Google Trends and SEMrush to surface editorial opportunities.
- Provide actionable insights to teams across the news division.
- Optimize daily YouTube videos and live streams by drafting titles, descriptions, tags, and calls to action.
- Collaborate with editorial and video departments to apply best practices to headlines, metadata, and playlists.
- Compile daily and ad hoc search trend notes.
- Assist with SEO support for breaking news, evergreen content, and special projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree.
- Experience in journalism, news reporting, news production, or digital news content through coursework, internships, or campus media.
- Knowledge of SEO, YouTube, digital video, and audience growth.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and emerging AI discoverability strategies.
- Experience working with data, trends, and performance metrics.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess unrestricted work authorization.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 to June 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with occasional nights and weekends.
- Pay: $23.00 per hour.
