About the role#
The Reliability Engineer Co-Op/Intern will join the team at the K2 site in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, for the Winter 2027 term. This full-time position focuses on improving asset reliability and plant availability through special project assignments and collaboration with engineering staff. The role involves assessing and documenting the condition of plant stationary assets and participating in departmental meetings.
What you'll do#
- Investigate equipment failures to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
- Use problem-solving techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 Why to troubleshoot issues.
- Evaluate equipment and process performance against design specifications.
- Design, size, and validate new equipment or modifications to existing systems.
- Improve preventative maintenance and job plans by incorporating precision maintenance practices.
- Analyze data to identify reliability improvement opportunities, OEE gains, and cost reduction strategies.
- Communicate project updates and findings to management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems, with third-year status or higher by January 2027.
- A GPA of 72% or higher.
- Basic computer skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work full-time while maintaining student standing.
- 1-2 years of experience through volunteering, student organizations, or previous work is preferred.
- Ability to function in an industrial mining environment, including occasional outdoor work with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, climb stairs, work at heights, and wear a respirator.
- Successful completion of pre-placement screenings, including drug and alcohol testing, background checks, and physical examinations.
