About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within a food manufacturing facility. You will support the implementation and improvement of safety and environmental programs. The role involves identifying risks, promoting safety, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards essential to food production.
What you'll do#
- Inspect production areas to identify physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
- Support corrective actions to mitigate risks and improve worker safety.
- Evaluate sanitation practices, allergen controls, and hygiene protocols.
- Interpret and apply OSHA and EPA regulations in a food production context.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams on process changes and equipment upgrades.
- Maintain EHS documentation, including safety data sheets, incident reports, and environmental permits.
- Assist with internal audits and preparation for external inspections.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, Food Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with safety programs like Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Understanding of food safety regulations such as FDA and USDA standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well within a team.
