About the role#
This summer internship at the Hershey Technical Center places you within the Research & Development team. You will work on projects involving chocolate, sweets, protein, or salty snacks. Your work will span from initial research and prototype creation to scaling products for manufacturing. You will collaborate with scientists, product developers, and teams in marketing, sensory, and consumer research.
What you'll do#
- Design and carry out experiments using benchtop development and pilot scale equipment.
- Create product prototypes and evaluate results.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports.
- Provide input on the technical feasibility of new product concepts.
- Partner with the Supply Chain team to provide technical support for quality and value improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate Bachelor's degree program, preferably as a junior or senior.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Academic background in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Agriculture, Nursing, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, or Psychology.
- Strong interest in hands-on work and applying scientific principles.
- Comfort working with laboratory and pilot plant equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- This is a paid, full-time position.
- Note: You may handle allergens including dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, eggs, and sesame in the facility.
