About the role#
We are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic Intern to join our team at the Hazleton plant in Hazle Township, PA. You will work in a high-speed manufacturing environment that produces products like Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars and Kit Kat. This internship provides hands-on experience with industrial maintenance practices, reliability workflows, and safety protocols.
What you'll do#
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks including inspections, cleaning, and basic checks.
- Support work orders by documenting observations, gathering parts or tools, and closing out tasks.
- Perform basic troubleshooting under supervision, such as equipment resets and mechanical repairs.
- Help with installations using standard procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Support inventory tracking for tools and consumables.
- Participate in safety walks and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a program such as Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of mechanical systems or electrical fundamentals.
- Experience with hand tools and basic measurement tools like multimeters, gauges, and micrometers.
- Strong manual skills and the ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
- Willingness to learn safety procedures and follow site protocols.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work around operating equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
