About the role#
The Actuarial Intern role is a part-time position designed for students early in their actuarial career. This program runs during the spring semester to help you build foundational skills and prepare for future opportunities. You will work on projects that explore how data informs healthcare programs, costs, and financial trends. This experience is intended to complement your academic schedule while providing exposure to the Actuarial Executive Development Program.
What you'll do#
- Complete a meaningful project with guidance from experienced actuaries.
- Analyze healthcare data to explain financial trends and costs.
- Support introductory tasks related to pricing, forecasting, or reserving.
- Build or improve tools that help teams organize information and make decisions.
- Develop business acumen through job shadows, leadership lunches, and trainings.
- Improve your professional skills through mentorship and career coaching.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related major.
- Enrollment at a university on the SOA listing of Universities and Colleges with Actuarial Programs (UCAP).
- A minimum 3.2 GPA.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency working with data.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across teams.
- Completion of at least one actuarial exam is preferred.
- Exposure to Python, R, SQL, or AI-enabled tools is a plus.
- Sophomore status or at least two semesters of relevant coursework is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid role located in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
- You must be on-site at the Bloomfield office two days per week.
- The program runs from January 19, 2027, to April 30, 2027.
- This position is part-time, typically 15 hours per week, with flexibility between 10 and 20 hours.
- This role is paid and includes study materials for one upcoming actuarial exam.
- Candidates must be eligible for employment in the United States without sponsorship.
