About the role#
This summer internship program offers exposure to the underwriting field. You will join a team to evaluate risk, set strategic terms, and protect financial performance. The program includes foundational training in underwriting concepts, risk assessment, pricing, and business strategy. You will also participate in a speaker series and networking events with senior leaders and early-career professionals.
What you'll do#
- Organize case information, identify missing data, and summarize risk considerations for underwriting reviews.
- Use Excel to clean, analyze, and visualize data that informs pricing inputs and portfolio insights.
- Manage tasks within a live caseload by tracking milestones and escalating issues.
- Complete an individual project focused on improving a process, strengthening a decision framework, or enhancing customer outcomes.
- Communicate your findings and progress through written updates, team discussions, and a final presentation.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years completed in Mathematics, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong analytical aptitude and comfort applying quantitative reasoning to business situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A problem-solving focus and a customer-centric mindset.
- Ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in Bloomfield, CT; Philadelphia, PA; Franklin, TN; Chattanooga, TN; Scottsdale, AZ; or Denver, CO.
- Work is hybrid, requiring at least three days per week onsite.
- The hourly rate is $24 per hour, depending on experience and location.
