About the role#
The Community Initiatives Intern supports engagement activities to help the museum serve as a reliable partner to the community and the Mid-North Neighborhoods. You will help reduce barriers to resources that support the quality of life for local residents. This is a paid, part-time position.
What you'll do#
- Drive enrollment and participation in community programs through promotional efforts.
- Suggest ideas to improve the quality of program offerings.
- Conduct market and vendor research to support project needs.
- Coordinate community programs and event operations.
- Perform pre- and post-event evaluations to help develop reports on program outcomes.
- Build trust and collaborate with established community contacts to support diverse needs.
- Handle additional outreach and engagement tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of college.
- An academic background in fields like nonprofit management, event management, marketing, communications, social work, education, family studies, museum studies, child development, psychology, or sociology.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and research abilities, including web research.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A professional demeanor and a responsible work ethic.
- Strong customer service skills.
- The ability to multi-task or focus on a single task effectively.
- Availability to work 12 to 15 hours per week, including Saturdays and some evenings for meetings and events.
