About the role#
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Space Vehicle and Ground Systems Undergraduate Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time position is based within the System Realization Subdivision, which focuses on the development and assessment of vehicle and ground designs for the US Space Force, NASA, NOAA, and other partners. You will work on-site in either El Segundo, California, or Chantilly, Virginia.
What you'll do#
- Support space vehicle and ground design studies, ranging from individual tasks to multidisciplinary team projects.
- Develop, maintain, and improve design tools and models used in spacecraft analysis.
- Use and prototype hardware and equipment in the RAPID Center for pathfinding activities.
- Collaborate with staff, program office personnel, and fellow interns.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in an accredited bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of sophomore year prior to the start of the internship.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, system engineering, or related technical topics.
- Proficiency with standard office and collaboration software.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Submission of academic transcripts.
Preferred qualifications include a GPA of 3.5 or higher, an active security clearance, and proficiency in tools such as MATLAB, Python, Simulink, STK, C++, VBA, SolidWorks, or Cameo.
