About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineer Co-op, you will apply your academic engineering knowledge to support manufacturing operations at the Syensqo Rock Hill site. Working under the guidance of the Site Technical Manager and Production Engineers, you will lead and support projects aimed at improving productivity, quality, and maintenance. This role requires a hands-on approach, effective communication with plant staff, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
What you'll do#
- Manage and complete assigned engineering projects.
- Collaborate with plant staff to identify operational issues and determine effective solutions.
- Use SAP to perform daily functions and document project changes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by tracking production metrics.
- Troubleshoot production activities to improve operational efficiency.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and the safety work permit system.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior in an ABET accredited Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering program.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work safely in a hot manufacturing environment and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prior experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Must be eligible to work at a NIST/Export Control site. Sponsorship is not provided.

- Location: Rock Hill, South Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: Paid position ($24-$25 per hour).
