About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineer Co-op at the Syensqo Rock Hill site, you will apply your academic engineering knowledge to address real-world manufacturing opportunities. You will lead and support projects focused on productivity, quality, and maintenance under the guidance of the Site Technical Manager and Production Engineers. This role requires a hands-on approach, working directly on the plant floor to troubleshoot operations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Manage and complete assigned projects while collaborating with various departments.
- Communicate with plant staff to identify technical solutions and keep stakeholders informed on project progress.
- Perform daily functions using SAP and navigate document control systems.
- Support the tracking of production metrics and provide updates to management.
- Ensure safe work practices by utilizing the site safety permit system and performing risk assessments.
- Prioritize time between floor-based troubleshooting and office-based project work.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a Junior in an ABET accredited Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering program.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work safely in a hot manufacturing environment and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prior experience with ERP systems is considered a plus.
- Must be eligible to work at a NIST/Export Control site (sponsorship is not provided).
Location & details#
- Location: Rock Hill, South Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: Paid internship at an hourly rate of $24-$25, depending on experience and education.
