About the role#
The Studio Museum in Harlem is seeking a Communications Intern for the Spring 2027 season. This position offers insight into institutional voice, communications strategy, and media relations. You will work directly with the Communications Department to share the museum’s mission and offerings with our audiences, stakeholders, and the press. This is a paid internship designed for undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates interested in arts communications, media studies, or social marketing.
What you'll do#
- Assist with drafting copy for administrative, programming, and exhibition needs.
- Perform administrative tasks to maintain the records of the Communication Department.
- Collaborate on projects with museum staff.
- Participate in meetings and workshops focused on contemporary museology.
- Perform tasks critical to communicating the museum’s mission.
What you'll need#
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with social media and online email marketing tools.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: January 11, 2027, to April 16, 2027.
- Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Modality: Hybrid, with three days per week on-site. Tuesdays are mandatory for all interns.
- Compensation: A stipend of $5,040 is provided.
