About the role#
The Student Attendance Specialist ensures that students attend school regularly by investigating the causes of unexcused or excessive absences. This role involves communicating with families to solve attendance problems, issuing warnings, and representing the school in truancy-related matters. You will work closely with school administrators, teachers, and student support teams to develop individualized action plans and prevent absenteeism.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate school-wide attendance efforts and absenteeism prevention programming.
- Monitor student adherence to attendance policies in partnership with teachers.
- Communicate with families via email, phone calls, and auto-dial notices.
- Produce attendance and truancy reports for school, county, and state requirements.
- Develop and implement educational workshops regarding absenteeism for staff and families.
- Assist with truancy intervention meetings and ensure compliance with state guidelines for student logins and withdrawals.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in truancy or a related field.
- Knowledge of state school attendance laws and court procedures regarding truancy.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to pass a required background check.
- Familiarity with online learning environments.
