About the role#
The Student Attendance Specialist focuses on ensuring regular student attendance at North Carolina Virtual Academy. You will investigate the causes of unexcused or excessive absences, communicate with families to solve attendance problems, and assist in representing the school during truancy cases. This role requires a resident of North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate school-wide attendance efforts and absenteeism prevention programming.
- Work with teachers to monitor student adherence to attendance policies.
- Manage communications with families via emails, phone calls, and auto-dial notices.
- Develop and implement educational workshops regarding absenteeism for staff and families.
- Produce attendance and truancy reports for school, county, and state requirements.
- Collaborate with the Student Support Team to develop individualized action plans and facilitate referrals to service agencies.
- Ensure state compliance guidelines are met regarding student attendance, progress, and system logins.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in truancy intervention.
- Knowledge of state school attendance laws and court procedures regarding truancy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to pass a required background check.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
