About the role#
Stout offers a 10-week internship program for students interested in machinery and equipment (M&E) valuation. You will gain experience appraising commercial and industrial assets across a variety of industries. Working alongside our valuation professionals, you will engage in real-time project work and interact with facility management and accounting staff in diverse industrial environments.
What you'll do#
- Perform financial, industry, and technical analyses to support valuation conclusions.
- Conduct field inspections when required as part of a project.
- Carry out cost and market research to generate insights and recommendations on machinery and equipment categories.
- Develop and document valuation analyses and reports for public and private corporations.
- Participate in client or management meetings to provide input on methodologies, assumptions, and conclusions.
- Prepare deliverables including presentations, analysis packets, and written narrative reports.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a BA/BS degree with a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0.
- Preferred coursework in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or other quantitative disciplines.
- Foundational understanding of financial theory, accounting principles, and financial statement analysis.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.
- Ability to build organized analyses and clearly document workpapers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to ask thoughtful questions and a strong work ethic.
- Professional presence and the ability to travel.
