About the role#
This internship offers a balance of office-based engineering tasks and hands-on work on the production floor. You will work alongside operators and maintenance teams to apply engineering principles to real equipment and systems. This role provides exposure to the full scope of how metallurgy drives production success in a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with scrap analysis and alloy verification using spectrometry and lab tools.
- Support melt shop operations by collecting and analyzing production data to identify efficiency improvements.
- Participate in scrap recovery and process optimization projects.
- Collaborate with operators and engineers across shifts to ensure quality and consistency.
- Gain hands-on experience in casting operations, including heat cycles and metal transfers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Materials Science, Engineering, or related fields such as Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Business Administration, or Mathematics.
- A preferred GPA of at least 2.7.
- Experience with spectrometry and lab tools.
- Strong analytical skills.
- A willingness to work in a hands-on industrial environment.
