About the role#
Stantec is seeking a Transportation Co-op Student for the Fall 2026 term to join our Hamilton Transportation Group. This position involves working on planning and design for provincial highways, interchanges, and municipal roads, as well as assisting our structural engineering team with bridge and structure inspections. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside experienced practitioners on Class Environmental Assessment, preliminary design, and detail design projects for public sector clients.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering drawings and plans using industry standard drafting principles.
- Document existing transportation conditions based on survey plans and field reconnaissance.
- Identify existing transportation deficiencies based on current design standards.
- Contribute to the planning, preliminary design, and detail design of transportation improvement projects.
- Prepare content for reports and proposals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary degree program in Civil Engineering or a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Knowledge of AutoCad, Civil 3D, Inroads, or OpenRoads is desirable.
- Previous summer work-term or co-op experience is considered an asset.
