About the role#
Stantec is hiring a Mechanical Engineering student for a paid, full-time internship in Whitehorse during the Winter 2027 term. You will join our Buildings group to work alongside experienced practitioners on mechanical design projects. This role involves both office work and potential field visits.
What you'll do#
- Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches.
- Produce mechanical design drawings using REVIT and AutoCAD.
- Assist in the design of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Review equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations, and develop preliminary designs.
- Review shop drawings and contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.
What you'll need#
- You are currently working toward a degree in Mechanical Engineering at a Canadian university and are available for a 4-month term.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software.
- Experience or knowledge regarding building mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with National and Alberta Building Codes, plus LEED standards, ASHRAE, ASPE, and NFPA.
- Government security clearance or the ability to obtain one in Canada is preferred.
