About the role#
J.S. Held is hiring for a 6-month Junior Forensic Engineering Internship within our Accident Reconstruction Group in Halifax. This position involves assisting with vehicle accident investigations, fire origin and cause assessments, and biomechanics analysis. The role is intended to lead to a permanent position upon successful completion of the contract.
What you'll do#
- Draft technical reports and summarize documents based on instructions from lead engineers.
- Conduct research on topics relevant to active investigations.
- Perform data analysis and complex calculations.
- Document physical evidence through photography, measurements, and detailed notes.
- Carry out vehicle and scene examinations, including data acquisition from vehicle systems.
- Run computer simulations and travel for field work or meetings.
What you'll need#
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Physics, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A valid Class 5 license or equivalent.
- Reliable access to a vehicle.
- A willingness to travel within Canada.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

- This role is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- The work follows a hybrid schedule requiring in-person attendance.
- This is a paid, full-time position with a salary range of CAD 30 to 35 per hour.
