About the role#
The Intellectual Property Advisory internship for Summer 2027 focuses on patent and M&A transactions, along with financing for law firms and operating company clients. You will work with the IP Advisory team to support complex matters involving intellectual property and intangible assets.
What you'll do#
- Build complex financial models and conduct financial analyses.
- Perform research on specific technologies, industries, and companies.
- Create client presentations, pitch books, reports, letters, and memoranda.
- Assist with IP landscape analysis and evaluate patent portfolios for potential salability.
- Identify and contact target companies.
- Engage directly with clients and management teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, or biomedical sciences.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong financial modeling capabilities, including an understanding of financial statements and valuation methods.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- A self-starter mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
- Previous experience in investment banking, private equity, M&A, corporate finance, or intellectual property is preferred.
- Must possess work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship based in Chicago, Illinois.
- The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office attendance 2-3 days per week.
- Compensation is $30 to $34 per hour.
