The Pharmacy Intern supports the inpatient pharmacy department under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role allows students currently enrolled in a College of Pharmacy to gain practical experience while completing their degree, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the selection, preparation, distribution, and record-keeping of medications for inpatients.
- Expand clinical knowledge by supporting clinical consultations through established hospital protocols.
- Complete medication histories and provide counseling on anticoagulation and methotrexate.
- Manage medication transitions, including converting medications from IV to PO and adjusting dosages for renal and hepatic function.
- Adhere to ICARE and AIDET principles while demonstrating empathy and respect to patients, families, and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
- Active status as a Registered Intern with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Fundamental understanding of pharmacy calculations.
- Experience with IV admixture.
- Academic background in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, or Chemistry is preferred.

- Schedule: 15 hours per week.
