About the role#
The Pharmacy Intern assists with the selection, preparation, distribution, and record keeping of medications dispensed to inpatients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position provides students with the opportunity to gain clinical experience while completing their degree in accordance with state and federal laws.
What you'll do#
- Assist with medication selection, preparation, distribution, and record keeping for inpatients.
- Complete medication histories and provide counseling on anticoagulation and methotrexate.
- Convert medications from IV to PO.
- Adjust medication dosages for renal and hepatic function.
- Adhere to ICARE principles and exhibit AIDET principles while interacting with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
- Registered Intern status with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of pharmacy calculations.
- A degree in a related field such as Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics is preferred.
