The Pharmacy Intern supports the inpatient pharmacy department under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role provides students enrolled in a College of Pharmacy the opportunity to gain clinical experience while completing their degree. Interns are expected to uphold ICARE and AIDET principles, ensuring patients, families, and staff are treated with respect, dignity, and empathy.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the selection, preparation, distribution, and record-keeping of medications dispensed to inpatients.
- Complete medication histories for patients.
- Provide counseling on anticoagulation and methotrexate.
- Convert medications from IV to PO.
- Adjust medication dosages based on renal and hepatic function.
- Participate in clinical consultations following hospital protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
- Valid registration as an Intern with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
- Understanding of pharmacy calculations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- A degree in a related field such as Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics is preferred.
- Previous experience as a hospital pharmacy technician or intern is considered a plus.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 15 hours per week.
- Status: Paid, non-exempt position.
