About the role#
SRF Consulting Group is seeking an intern to join our Wisconsin traffic engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience with industry standard practices and apply your coursework to real projects. You will work alongside senior team members to develop technical skills and build professional connections. This position has the potential for full-time employment after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Perform conceptual, preliminary, and final design tasks.
- Conduct intersection control evaluations and signal or roundabout justification reports.
- Complete traffic signal design tasks and signing or pavement markings design.
- Plan work zone traffic control and detour signing.
- Perform data collection and processing.
- Use software tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, RODEL, SignCAD, and AutoCAD for design and analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a civil engineering program or a closely related field.
- Strong analytical skills and technical writing ability.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Preference for students with 1 to 3 semesters remaining in their degree program.
- Ability to work in a cooperative team atmosphere.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site at our Madison, Wisconsin office.
- The role is full-time during the summer with the option for part-time hours during the school year.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
