About the role#
This paid, full-time internship offers a practical training environment within a swine facility. You will work under the guidance of a department leader to gain experience in production processes and company operations. This position runs for a full year.
What you'll do#
- Train daily in a swine facility to understand production processes.
- Perform specific job duties as defined by your supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all environmental laws and procedures.
- Report any environmental issues to your supervisor immediately.
- Review and follow the company emergency notification process.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program at a regionally accredited college or university, or recent graduation.
- Preference for students pursuing Agriculture-related majors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive mindset with self-motivation.
- Organizational skills for managing time and projects.
- A respectful and approachable demeanor.
Location & details#
- Location: Algona, Iowa.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Physical Requirements: You must be able to stand and walk on concrete for 9 to 12 hours per day. The role requires frequent bending, stooping, and climbing. You will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. You must be able to work in environments with dust, animal dander, manure, and noise, and work with various antibiotics. You will also be required to shower in and out of the facility daily.
- Schedule: You will work an average of 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
