About the role#
WinField United is looking for a Summer Research Technician to join our Answer Plot program. You will work with regional crews to manage research plots that help farmers evaluate seed and crop protection products. This is a full-time, paid internship running from March through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support regional plot management, including equipment preparation, seed handling, and transport.
- Operate farm and drone equipment and perform field operations including mapping and GIS applications.
- Mix and apply fertilizer and chemicals according to specific blend sheets.
- Collect metadata such as tissue samples and root ratings, and perform foliar applications using a backpack sprayer.
- Stay current on agronomic products, trends, and precision agriculture technologies.
- Follow all safety regulations and use required personal protective equipment.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor degree, preferably in an agricultural program.
- Ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicators license by your start date or within 2 weeks of hire.
- Valid, unrestricted driver license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 50-60 lbs and traverse uneven ground.
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons like planting and pollination, including occasional overnight stays.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks independently.
- Technical knowledge in agronomy, crop sciences, or ag technology is preferred.
Location & details#
- Positions are available in Kearney, NE; Lincoln, NE; Lawrence, KS; and Ames, IA.
- You must be able to live near your assigned location for the duration of the internship.
- This is a full-time, on-site role. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
